My name is Harada, born in 1994, and I'm an Alaska teenager who likes to program and roam around overseas. My favorite motorcycle is a GB350, and in the future I would like to ride it across Southeast Asia, just buzzing along vast roads, or visit unexplored lakes in the interior of China to fish for fish of a mysterious nature. My ideal is to become a person with high survival skills, and I spend my days thinking that I want to have the ability to survive in difficult environments, both in my professional and private life.
I was born in Kyoto and went to college in Hokkaido because I wanted to go far away from home. During my university years, I lived in a foreign student dormitory for 10,000 yen because I could not afford it, and this led me to develop an interest in foreign cultures. Since then, I have visited many countries, visited the countries of former international students who have returned to Japan, and studied abroad in Northern Europe, and I began to think that I wanted to work not only in Japan but also in other countries. This experience led me to join Asilla, which has a global orientation. At that time, I liked to be involved in new web services and applications, and I had experienced how Google, Apple, and Amazon were becoming more and more a part of the world's infrastructure, so my desire to be involved in IT first became stronger than the overseas axis. Therefore, I decided to go to a place where I could develop skills to develop and expand IT products and services that would be useful to users. I also discovered the joy of writing code during my college days and decided to work for an IT startup as a web engineer because I wanted to learn how these applications were made first.
Although I could code a little, there was a lot of knowledge I didn't know when it came to practical work, and I had a very hard time at first. However, I was able to gain experience in all aspects of backend, frontend, and AWS infrastructure, so I was able to acquire the skills to quickly launch the 0 to 1 development that I was looking for. I also maintained the development environment during the operation phase, and did task management and project management in team development, which allowed me to experience all the basics of web development. Originally, I wanted to develop and expand IT services, so I was willing to experience whatever was necessary. I have touched everything related to IT in a shallow, broad, and wide range.
I wanted to do something with the little time I had left in my twenties, and as I listened to the various talks at Asilla, my desire to do something about society matched with my desire to do something about it. The main reason was that I was excited to hear that they are aiming to be the world's No.1 in behavior recognition AI and to expand their business globally, and I could imagine that they still need to set up the system and that there are many things that they can do in the future.
And the AI security system for facilities that Asilla is developing is in demand wherever security cameras are needed. I felt that this product will be needed in a wide range of places, including Japan, where the population is aging and the working population is decreasing, as well as in foreign countries where security is not good. The fact that AI/IT can replace labor that people do not need to bother with and allow them to focus on the work that they should be concentrating on is precisely the realm of what IT should fulfill. I could sympathize with this product in the sense that it is more than just a convenient product, and that its necessity will increase in the future.
I was not very interested in AI to begin with, and I intended to live in the world of web development, so I was not very eager to join the company, but as I talked with the company, various images of the company grew in my mind, and I decided to follow my feelings and join the company.
First, I wanted to be a bridge between technology and business; second, I thought I could gain more challenging experience because we often communicate across national borders at Asilla; and third, I heard that PMs at Asilla have many opportunities to participate in pitch contests and speak on stage, which other companies rarely give them. I was told that PMs at Ajira are often given opportunities to participate in pitch contests and speak on stage, which other companies do not offer, so I decided to apply for the PM position because I would definitely like to participate in those kinds of pitches.
Just the other day, I attended an accelerator event called Plug and Play Japan, where eight startups gathered to present their initiatives and interact with each other, and I became more aware of my responsibility as a signboard for the company, as there were many representatives from each company. The event was a great opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other startups and to learn from each other.
"I have found a diamond in the rough!" I am getting more and more excited day by day. I am the type of person who takes pleasure in being able to reverse the situation and discover a world that many people have not yet discovered, so I am looking forward to the future with increasing excitement. I feel that the field of behavior recognition AI has such a wide range of applications, and that there is much room for improvement in society. At the same time, I feel frustrated that some people are skeptical about AI and that the company is not as well known as it should be. Although we are not as prominent as other startups in Shibuya or famous in the media, I believe that we can make up for our late start with our core technology and excellent products, and I would like to contribute to the company with the aim of becoming a unicorn!
I would like to jump out of PM duties and experience up to the PR/HR/Product Marketing management area. I would also like to build a foundation on which the service and organization can expand. I experienced going public at my previous job, but was not able to leave a big mark, so I will take revenge again at Asilla!
Rather than having a clear goal for the future, I am the type of person who wants to spend my daily life in order to embody the image of the kind of person I want to be.
The image of a person I have in mind is someone who can think flexibly even as he or she gets older, and someone who has the imagination to see things from all perspectives. That is why I want to be someone who is willing to try new things even after 10 or 20 years. I also want to continue to be the kind of person that others would be willing to entrust with new things. To achieve this, I want to continue to live my life by trying things that are difficult and different from the environment I am used to, things that I would have to grow taller to reach.
Together, let's explore overseas and become Guardians of the World!
