Asilla, which specializes in security systems featuring state-of-the-art behavior recognition AI, has established a new research team focused on human science. The team, known as the Human Science AI (HSAR Team), was launched in February 2023 with the goal of enhancing AI technology even further.

In this article, we spoke to Asilla’s CTO Masahiro Wakasa, the founder of the team, concerning the team's innovative ideas and cutting-edge technologies that will significantly transform the platform of behavior recognition AI.

HSAR's primary assets are the team's diverse cultural backgrounds and a broad range of specializations that extend beyond the AI field.

- First of all, please tell us about the HSAR team structure?

HSAR is a team of experts in human science, the scientific study of human beings, composed not only of computer science specialists but also of professionals from diverse fields. The team includes specialists in areas such as 'gait analysis', which seeks to enhance the precision of gait recognition, 'neuroscience', which scientifically examines the structure of the human brain and behavior, and 'human trajectory', which aims to improve the accuracy of person identification, among other domains.

- Apart from the various areas of expertise, the team is also composed of members from different nationalities.

Indeed, the HSAR comprises researchers from a range of countries including Egypt, Iran, Singapore, India, Taiwan, and Vietnam, making it a diverse team that transcends national boundaries.

The team's broad range of expertise and cultural backgrounds are expected to bring varied perspectives and values that can expand the scope of our research.

The reason for assembling such a diverse group of members lies in the exceptional technology employed by the company and its status as the world's foremost behavior-awareness AI.

- What led to the formation of such a diverse team of members?

We did not specifically set out to recruit researchers from diverse nationalities and backgrounds for the Human Science AI Research Team. Our focus was on attracting individuals with expertise in the field of human science, who also shared our vision of taking behavior recognition AI to new heights. The unique value of Azira's technology naturally drew in people from various backgrounds, resulting in a diverse team with varied research interests, cultures, and backgrounds. Our aim is to leverage this diversity to broaden the scope of our research and achieve our goal of advancing behavior recognition AI.

While the language used by the team is predominantly English, members have varying perspectives on the field. The synergy between individuals who specialize in AI and those with expertise in human science has resulted in an unexpectedly positive outcome.

There is a reason why results are achieved - the commitment of the team members can transform the team.

- What specific synergies are being created?

The team members are constantly on the lookout for new information in their respective fields, thoroughly reading and comprehending academic papers, and striving to gain new skills and knowledge. What may seem "obvious" to us in our own field can often present a completely fresh perspective in other fields.

Let me give you a specific example. One of our team members was conducting AI research and faced unexpected difficulties. He was about to give up when a colleague from a completely different field offered some advice that opened up a new approach. Thanks to this input, the research continued, and we are now tackling it in a new way. We learned that exchanging ideas and having informal conversations from different perspectives can directly impact our research and make a significant difference.

Each member of our team is dedicated to their individual work and takes their own evaluations seriously. This dedication and awareness of timelines and outputs enable us to produce highly effective results as a team, which is a unique and valuable feature.
HSAR has plans to expand the research team with the addition of more researchers to further strengthen the team. It is expected that a larger team will create even greater synergies and expand the scope of the research.
