Asilla, a developer of security systems with world-class behavior recognition AI at its core, launched the Human Science AI Research Team (hereinafter referred to as "HSAR"), a specialized team centered on human science research, in February 2023. In this article, we interviewed Mr. Masahiro Wakasa, CTO of Asilla, the founder of the team, about how HSAR's research will connect with the world.
Asilla has been focusing on behavior recognition AI since 2017 and has been developing an AI security system since 2022. While we have received feedback from our customers that the system has contributed to strengthening their crime prevention systems since its introduction, we have also received an increasing number of requests asking if we could analyze these human behaviors more. Therefore, we decided to launch the HSAR team, an AI team specializing in human science, in order to deepen our "understanding of human nature," which is necessary to correctly judge detailed human movements.
Frankly speaking, I felt that the client's request was a difficult one to meet, but at the same time, I thought that we, Asilla, should work on it to achieve our goal of "preventing incidents and accidents and realizing a safe and secure world. When I thought about what was needed to realize this goal and what was lacking, I realized that our knowledge of humans was still insufficient to correctly judge the minute movements of people.
I thought that "understanding of human nature" must be reinforced in order to improve the accuracy of AI. Therefore, we have decided to launch the HSAR team to study humans scientifically and professionally.
We do not see AI as something that has a consciousness and can replace humans, but rather as just another technological tool, just like software such as spreadsheets and shopping applications. What is important is how we should use these tools to complement us humans and help improve the comfort of our lives. This is the goal we are striving for.
Yes, we do. We are developing an AI security system, but this does not mean that the system will completely take away the work of security guards. AI is not a threat, but rather an "AI for people" that is close to human beings. We are conducting daily research and development with this idea in mind.
Based on the philosophy of "Technology Driven Future," Asilla conducts research and development on a daily basis in order to realize a world in which all people can live in safety and security. In the field of behavior recognition AI, in particular, we have a strong desire to become a world leader, and our researchers and members are working together as a team to constantly evolve. In the future, we will further promote the further evolution of our behavior recognition AI technology and strive to create an environment where all our engineers can pursue their own careers and always be excited about their work. If you are interested in AI related to human behavior, I look forward to working with you to create something together.
