Asilla, Inc. (Headquarters: Machida City, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Go Onoue; hereinafter "Asilla"), which champions the vision of "Creating a safe and comfortable world through the power of technology," announces that its AI security system "AI Security asilla" has gone into operation at the International Passenger Terminal Building of Fukuoka Airport, which is managed and operated by Fukuoka International Airport Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka; Representative Director, President and Executive Officer: Shinji Tagawa; hereinafter "FIAC"), in collaboration with Nishikei Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka; Representative Director and President: Yasuaki Endo; hereinafter "Nishikei"), with the aim of advancing security operations.

Background of the Initiative

The International Passenger Terminal Building of Fukuoka Airport is a major hub connecting Fukuoka and Kyushu with Asia as a gateway, and it is a facility visited by a large number of users throughout the year. Amid an increase in passenger numbers driven by the recovery and expansion of inbound demand, there is a growing need to further strengthen the safety-management framework for the facility as a whole.

Against this background, Nishikei, which has handled security at Fukuoka Airport for more than half a century since 1971, decided to advance its security response through AI video analytics while leveraging the existing camera infrastructure.

By combining the security expertise that Nishikei has cultivated with Asilla's 24-hour AI video analytics, Asilla and Nishikei aim to further enhance the quality of security operations themselves and to realize a terminal where users can spend their time with greater peace of mind.

Overview of the Initiative

At the International Passenger Terminal Building of Fukuoka Airport, which is managed and operated by FIAC, the AI security system "AI Security asilla" has gone into operation with the aim of advancing Nishikei's security operations, and efforts are underway to strengthen the safety-management framework for the facility as a whole.

Details of This Initiative

1. Early detection of suspicious behavior and suspicious individuals

AI analyzes security camera footage within the terminal 24 hours a day, detecting abnormal behaviors such as violence, falls, and intrusion. By immediately notifying security staff and administrators, it supports faster initial response and helps ensure the safety of users.

The system carries out early detection of suspicious behavior and suspicious individuals within the terminal. "AI Security asilla" is equipped with a proprietary algorithm that learns normal behavior patterns from camera footage and detects behavior deviating from them as a "sense of incongruity." In addition to clear abnormal behaviors such as acts of violence and intrusion, this also captures changes in behavior that could be precursors to incidents or accidents, enabling prompt notification to security staff.

2. Detection of abnormal loitering behavior

The system detects abnormal loitering behavior, such as standing still for long periods or wandering within the same area. Because an airport terminal is a space where many passengers move about, by having AI capture behavior that deviates from the usual flow lines, it supports the early discovery of lost children and people in poor physical condition, as well as responses to security risks.

3. Improving passenger guidance and facility-operation efficiency by grasping crowding conditions

The system grasps crowding conditions within the terminal in real time and uses this to guide passengers and improve the efficiency of facility operations. By visualizing the flow of people within the facility — which has been significantly expanded through extension and renovation — it grasps imbalances in crowding and helps with the appropriate deployment of staff and guidance for passengers.

4. Strengthening the automated monitoring framework during nighttime hours

Even with the limited staffing of nighttime hours, AI continues to analyze footage 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, reducing the risk of oversights. When an anomaly is detected, it immediately notifies security staff, building a framework that maintains a high level of safety even during nighttime hours.

Going forward, the three parties — Asilla, Fukuoka International Airport, and Nishikei — will leverage the insights gained from this implementation and aim for the further evolution of the safety-management framework of airport facilities through the use of AI video analytics technology.

About the International Passenger Terminal Building of Fukuoka Airport

The International Passenger Terminal Building of Fukuoka Airport is a major international-route hub connecting Kyushu and Asia.

It held its grand opening on March 28, 2025, and its total floor area was expanded from approximately 73,000 square meters to approximately 132,000 square meters. The duty-free area was expanded to approximately four times its previous size and a new food court was added, transforming it into a facility that combines convenience and comfort.

What is "AI Security asilla"

"AI Security asilla" is a system in which AI analyzes footage from existing security cameras 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, instantly detecting abnormal behaviors such as violence, falls, and intrusion, as well as behaviors requiring attention such as wandering, crowding, and signs of poor physical condition. Amid an increasingly serious shortage of security personnel, it captures anomalies that are easily overlooked by human monitoring and immediately notifies security staff and administrators. Because existing cameras can be used as-is, no capital investment is required, making it a next-generation security solution that maintains a high level of safety even with limited staff.
