Under its national strategy Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia is advancing economic diversification and digital transformation, with AI positioned as a core enabling technology. While adoption is spreading across a wide range of fields - tourism and entertainment, finance, retail, manufacturing and healthcare - embedding technology in society also calls for practical knowledge of how it is actually operated in the field and how it delivers results.
The session was designed as an opportunity for leading Japanese companies and startups to share their respective strengths and to explore the potential for cooperation between the two countries. Asilla joined the discussion as one of the companies that has brought behavior-recognition AI into real-world use.
In the session, Asilla introduced its behavior-recognition AI technology and the reality of the deployments it has carried out in Japan. "AI Security asilla," the AI-powered security system released in 2022, has been rolled out to a wide range of sites including commercial facilities, public transportation and office buildings against the backdrop of labor shortages in the security industry, and is now running at approximately 250 locations across Japan. Asilla also shared its development efforts toward the next stage, including VLM (Vision Language Model) technology that combines video and language to understand situations.
The point that the key to implementation lies not only in the accuracy of the technology but in how it takes root in the field is a theme shared with Saudi Arabia, despite differences in culture and institutions. Under Vision 2030, as major societal change unfolds in a short span of time - rapidly expanding urban infrastructure and a growing number of visitors from diverse cultural backgrounds - keeping public spaces safe is becoming an increasingly important part of running a city. Based on the view that building efficient security operations in rapidly growing cities and facilities could be key to supporting the development of the country's tourism and infrastructure industries, Asilla presented the potential contribution of its solution, which works with existing cameras as they are. By combining Saudi Arabia's abundant asset of installed security cameras with the data and know-how Asilla has built up through deployments in Japan, the company believes it can help address these latent challenges.
LEAP is a technology event held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
First held in 2022, this was its fifth edition. Supported by digital policy driven by the national strategy Vision 2030, it has expanded with each edition, drawing more than 200,000 visitors last year.
In 2026, sessions were held over four days across 20 themes including AI, cloud, cybersecurity, smart cities, mobility and health tech, and DeepFest, an event dedicated to AI, was held at the same venue during the same period.

"AI Security asilla" is a system in which AI analyzes footage from existing security cameras 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, instantly detecting abnormal behavior such as violence, falls and intrusion, as well as behavior that warrants attention such as loitering, crowding and signs of poor physical condition. Amid a deepening shortage of security personnel, it catches anomalies that human monitoring can easily miss and notifies security staff and administrators immediately. Because it works with existing cameras as they are, no capital investment is required, making it a next-generation security solution that maintains a high level of safety even with limited personnel.
